The Manurewa Cosmopolitan Club offers a large variety of sports and social sections to suit our Members of all ages and interests. If you're interested in joining any of our sections, please contact the respective convenor for more information.

Darts

The Darts Section holds regular weekly competitions, including the Wednesday Night League at 7:00pm and the Saturday League at 2:00pm, both under the banner of Auckland Chartered Clubs Darts Association.

With North Island and Inter-area competitions, along with numerous local club tournaments, this section stays very active.

8 Ball

The club hosts a regular club night competition every Friday starting at 7pm, with a $10 entry fee per player. All entry money paid out in prizes.

Members compete in various events, with the most notable being the Northern Area competition held on Tuesdays at 7pm with alternating home and away games featuring teams from greater Auckland.

Eight competition size tables available for play at no cost. New members are always welcome!

Snooker

The Snooker Section operates five fully serviced snooker tables available to club members at no charge for lights. The facility has some of the highest quality tables in the area.

Snooker is the primary activity, with Billiards also offered including an annual MCC Cup competition.

The snooker committee actively encourages players at all skill levels and ensures club representation at national and regional tournaments, including competitions for players over sixty.

Indoor Bowls

A strong and vibrant section, who host regular club nights and competitions on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm, as well as Tuesday night pairs every third Tuesday at 7:15pm.

Throughout the year, regular tournaments occur during winter months. The section hosts regular Thursday Hospice Bowls tournaments at 10:00am, with proceeds going to the South Auckland Hospice, a very worthy cause.

New players are welcome and lessons can be arranged by section teachers.

Outdoor Bowls

The Outdoor Bowls Section welcomes a balanced mix of both men and women players and actively recruits new members, particularly younger participants.

The section features an all-weather artificial carpet used year-round. Recent additions include shelters for weather protection and high-mast lighting enabling twilight play during intersection tournaments.

Roll-Up days are held on Tuesday mornings, open to all Cossie Club members. Open ACT runs on Wednesday mornings at 9:30am.

Fishing

The Fishing Section is a highly popular section, we’re often out fishing, always on the hunt for that elusive big catch. Of course, our stories are even bigger! If you’re a keen fisho, your Fishing Convenor will steer you in the right direction.

Golf

The Golf Section is a popular section for all aspiring Tiger Woods, Ryan Fox’s & Dame Lydia Ko’s or those just wanting a relaxing day out on a Sunday with fellow members.

Monthly meetings rotate across different golf courses in Auckland and the Waikato regions. Prizes are awarded by handicap along with spot prizes and consolation awards.

A Top Dog pairs match play event and Player of the Year award are featured annually, presented in December.

The section sends representatives to two Clubs NZ tournaments each year. Members who participate in seven of ten monthly rounds qualify for a Half Ham at the end of the season.

New members are always welcome, especially Ladies! Dust off those Clubs and come and join us.

Over 60’S

The Over 60’s Section serves senior club members with monthly meetings at 9:45am on the first Monday of each month, excluding January or when it falls on a public holiday.

Guest speakers provide entertainment and information on various topics, with musical performances included. Members organise morning tea during these gatherings.

Monthly bus trips are arranged during meetings, scheduled for the third Thursday following each meeting date. The section averages approximately 130 attendees.

Cards

The Card Section meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings, including statutory holidays.

Euchre – Monday nights, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, $5 entry.

Cribbage – 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, $5 entry.

500 – 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, 7:00pm – 9:00pm, $5 entry.

Senior Card Section – Social 500: Monday afternoons, 12:30pm – 3:00pm, $1 entry. Open to all, no age limit.

All games follow Clubs NZ National Rules. Monthly Sunday Interclub Euchre competitions draw up to 100 players from Hamilton to Auckland.

Punters

The Punters Club is all about the “Sport of Kings” – horse racing.

Various competitions are held throughout the year, including the weekly alphabet competition. In this game, each punter is assigned a letter and a race meeting is selected. Points are awarded based on the first letter of the winning horse’s name. The first person to reach 11 points wins the cash prize!

Prize-giving is always full of laughs, with plenty of winners and losers.

2025 Punters Rules and Competitions

Texas Holdem Poker

The Texas Hold’em Poker Section meets every Tuesday for a fun, social, and competitive night of play. Registration begins at 6:30pm, with play starting promptly at 7:00pm.

The standard buy-in is $10, which comes with a $13,000 chip stack. Before the first break, players are allowed 2 re-buys at $10 each and 1 $5 add-on. Cash prizes are awarded to the top players of the night.

Beginners are welcome! If you’re new to the game, there are plenty of experienced players eager to teach you the basics.
